The Venue and Company

Based 20 minutes out of the CBD with plenty of parking, this property caters to the “who’s who” of society. It is an exclusive venue and the type of business to get excited about. This is a company you will definitely be proud to work with, and it has the added benefit of excellent working conditions and an inspiring management team. The property is undergoing a million $ transformation this year, with stunning new decor and furniture.

What makes this role special?

  • Hands-on leadership: You won’t just manage from the sidelines—you’ll be in the thick of it, engaging with members, leading by example, and supporting your team. You decide on the new service standards and staff training. Take the venue in a new direction.
  • A balanced lifestyle: They’re serious about work-life balance. Expect flexibility for personal commitments and a culture that values quality of life. Family first mentality – the GM specifically wants you to have a work/life balance and spend time at home, putting your partner and/or kids first.
  • A collaborative atmosphere: With casual staff who’ve been part of their journey for years, you’ll find a team that’s motivated, talented, and ready to thrive under the right leadership. They’re all young and hungry and are very committed to the business with a very successful GM. A strong and united culture.

The Role

The role is working closely with the GM and a regular clientele with a particular focus on Events but some exposure to running the restaurant and helping out in the bar from time to time.  It’s a hands-on role and you’ll be overseeing and managing as well as hosting and jumping in when required.

While the role comes with plenty of support, the expectation is that you will take charge of the floor and be client-facing on a daily basis. You’ll lead a young, driven team—guiding, directing, and inspiring them to excel.

  • Lead day-to-day venue operations, including rosters, training, and member engagement.
  • Build authentic connections with members—remembering their names, their stories and what their needs and wants are.
  • Support and enhance the ongoing refurbishment project, bringing new life to the club.
  • Motivate and guide a team of casual staff, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
  • Ensure seamless coordination of functions, events, and everyday service excellence.

What they’re looking for:

  • A People Person: You’ll have an innate ability to connect with members, understanding their needs and preferences while maintaining professionalism.
  • Operational Expertise: Experience in hotels or multi-faceted venues is ideal. You know how to juggle competing priorities without missing a beat.
  • Adaptability: You’re ready to roll up your sleeves and thrive in a role that balances operations and leadership.
  • Approachability: Your team will look to you for guidance, inspiration, and a shared sense of purpose.

Why this role could be perfect for you:

  • You’ve mastered the art of hands-on leadership but are ready for a role with flexibility and room for personal growth.
  • You value relationships and believe that success is built on mutual respect and trust.
  • You’re excited to be part of a major transformation and want to leave your mark on a historic club.

Who they are looking for:

You’ll have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.  In addition and given the nature of this role, you will need to have had some strong experience running events (weddings etc) in the industry.

A down to earth leadership style and being a real people person is essential.
It’s also very important that you are confident and comfortable working with members.

This role would suit someone with solid small-medium restaurant experience who is looking to find a new pathway within the industry, work somewhere with a better work/life balance and has a more community-focused feel.

The Perks and Benefits

No double shifts for this role, only straight shifts, ensuring a fantastic work-life balance of 40-45 hours per week. You’ll work just 1-2 evenings a week with the opportunity to have alternate weekends off. A strong ‘family first’ approach is emphasized, with the GM highlighting its importance.
