This is a genuine and exciting opportunity to relocate to paradise. Our client offers an exclusive role overseeing all kitchen operations at a stunning resort located at the top of the Whitsundays, on the Mid North Coast of QLD.

This position is ideal for an experienced Head Chef ready to take charge of a thriving resort, featuring a 90-room hotel, a premium dining restaurant, and bustling event spaces.

The owner has built a highly regarded and renowned resort, known for delivering some of the finest hospitality in the entire region.

The Role

You’ll be overseeing a multi-faceted business, running everything kitchen-focused, with both the recently rebranded restaurant and events spaces being the primary focus.

The menu has a heavy lean towards coastal, sitting at premium style while still being accessible for everyone.  Staying within a loose remit of seafood focused the new chef will be given lots of freedom to create their own style and direction with the menu.

There is a decent size team, especially during high season and a very dependable Sous Chef.  Events are a large part of annual revenue and can often have one every day when busy.

  • Purchases and supplier negotiations.
  • Ensure weekly and monthly labour and food costs are to budget
  • Provide full menu execution support with standard recipes, preparation procedures, cost and service procedures, across all levels. Working closely with the existing Sous Chef and team.
  • Review all food cost-related matters and advise on possible areas where improved costs or improved quality is achievable
  • Ensure the right staff are selected, recruited and measurably trained
  • Monitor and document staff performance, carrying out regular informal and formal reviews

What You Will Need 

  • Hands on with strong food knowledge and excellent cooking skills.
  • Experience in hotels, premium/casual dining and events planning is essential.
  • Having flexibility and dedication, combined with the ability to thrive under pressure and achieve results
  • The ability to lead from the front, in a ‘hands on’ manner and belief in teamwork, people, people’s development and training.
  • Having excellent communication skills thus enabling him/her to efficiently co-ordinate and delegate effectively.
  • Having a modern man-management style
  • Proven experience following and managing WHS, Food Safety and HACCP policies and procedures in order to comply with current and future legislation.
  • Ability to motivate a diverse range of people and build rapport
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and a passion for quality customer service

What You’ll Get

A salary range of $110 to $120K+S, depending on level of experience and skill set.  There is also the chance to rent a subsidized apartment through the resort, plus assistance with your relocation.
