The Venue
This well-known and popular venue in South West Sydney attracts many loyal locals. It seats approximately 150 guests for breakfast, with a turnover of about 200-250 guests on a busy day. The venue operates across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a dedicated breakfast team managing the morning service. As the Sous Chef, your primary focus will be on lunch and dinner shifts, where you can expect to handle 500-700 covers on busy days across both services.
The Team and Set Up
This venue has a large kitchen team of approx. 25-35 full-time and casual chefs. The restaurant serves fairly upmarket bistro fare with some more creative and interesting specials but there certainly is room to play with the specials etc.
The Role
The role is definitely a hands-on cooking position, ideal for someone who thrives on food and staying busy. You will oversee day-to-day operations, with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Hands-on cooking
- Work with the Chef on special and ideas
- Learning some of the ordering and Pass management
- Working across all sections to know how the kitchen runs efficiently
The Hours
The hours are usually 40-42hrs per week.
It is a 5-day roster. The busy shifts are on the weekend, so you would be required to make sure they are covered.
The Right Candidate
A Chef with experience in a high-volume restaurant or club environment is preferred. The client is ideally looking for a Chef with a stable employment history, with at least 1-2 years in each of their recent roles, and someone who is proactive and sharp.

- Passionate about being a Chef, possess strong communication skills and a commitment to high standards.
Salary ranges from $80K to $85K + Super, based on experience.
